*French Art Deco Furniture* In the early 20th century, the Modern movement in decorative arts also created new standards for the most important French Art Deco furniture designers. Characterised by the use of luxurious materials such as ebony macassar, mahogany, sharkskin and ivory, the French Art Deco was a popular style for domestic interiors, cinema theatres and ocean liners such as Normandie. Our collection offers a glimpse into the splendor of the French Art Deco style, as seen in the work of its leading furniture makers, including Jaques Emile Ruhlmann, Jules Leleu, Dominique, Gilbert Poillerat, Andre Arbus and Jean Prouve.
